Blondes, Swedes and Valentine Parties

Posted by nabes on February 10th, 2009

Hello everyone,

We recently decided that there weren’t enough Scandanavians in the band. To help address this problem our Swedish friend Stefan will be joining us on keyboards at Kinoto on February 27. It will be the first time we..ve performed with a keyboard player, something we..ve long wanted to do. In practice it’s coming together nicely, so much looking forward to it.

Before that however, we’ll be playing a laidback acoustic set at the Pink Cow’s annual Valentines Day Party on February 14th. We haven’t invited Stefan to this one, as it’s a singles party, and we’re worried he’ll draw too much attention away from the rest of us. So if you like the idea of partner hunting to our some might say melancholic collection, please come along. If you are taken but would still like to spend Valentines Day with the Watanabes, well, I don’t blame you. Just slap on a nervous smile and smuggle yourself in. We won’t tell anyone, we promise.

Also there has been some talk of us playing at the Ruby Room on Thursday the 19th, at British Undergrounds monthly event. That night they’ll be celebrating the release of the new Morrissey record. I’m sure he played at an event celebrating the release of our CD, so I guess it’s only right we return the favour.

Take care,

Ash

Puffer Jacket

It has been reported that Duncan has recently had a disturbing image crisis. He has grown a beard and bought a puffer jacket. How this will affect the band remains to be seen.

Check out this review of our recent gig at Shibuya, Onest. We like to think of it as a rather backhanded compliment!

The Watanabes are delighted to have had an article written about them by the BBC: They are particularly delighted to have achieved a life long ambition by putting Swanton Novers on the map!
